An Interplay between nature and man-made enviroments
Bryan Claessen's paintings seem to evoke a distict blend of thematic and visual elements. His work might draw from filmmakers like Chantal Akerman, photographers like Robert Adams and the poignant atmospheres seen in Edward Hopper's paintings.
Only inspired but he created his own style. Space translated into visual stillness and the passage of time through static enviroments. His focus might be on abandoned places or the aftermath of industrial decline but expressed in soft pastel tones.
The choice to frame some works behind glass could enhance the sense of detachment and introspection, as if viewing the scenes through a barrier. This would deepen the feeling of separation between the viewer and the painted subjects, creating an emotional distance that aligns with the themes of isolation and longing.
Bryan Claessen, born in 1977 is a self-taught painter from the Netherlands.
